A wonderful resource. Thank you.
Being able to see the churches and towns that our ancestors lived in
gives them life and makes research easier for those of us who do not
live in England and are unable to travel.
Do you plan to photograph St John's church of England in
Midsomer Norton? It has a plaque in memory of 12 miners who were
murdered when the line to their cage was cut. My great great great
uncle, William Summers, was one of those miners.
(My family were all staunch Wesleyan Methodists -
someone in the C of E just happened to find it pertinent to put up a
memorial for these men. I don't know whether it is inside or outside
the church.)

Excellent. I am hunting for Bannister for a friend, hence my visit to your site. John Bannister and Mary Willshear/Willsher were married at Barnwood 30 Jan 1842. They were in Birmingham by 1850. Census give their birth places as Gloucester. It was great to see the churches etc. I haven't been to Gloucester.

My mother's family came from Gloucestershire. Her father's name was
Lea which I have now traced to 1776 to Boddington to St Mary Magdalene's
churchyard in Boddington. And thanks to you and your beautiful pictures
I have a sense of the area they lived in and where they worshipped.
I would not have been able to see those things had it not been for your
pictures. I may not ever be able to get to England myself to see them,
so thank you so very much for that glimpse of my heritage. I am also
looking for Lesters and Roberts but haven't had as much luck yet.
I hope I'll be as successful one day soon.

An excellent site. My great grandparents Richard and Eleanor Chapman
lived at Farnley House. Does this house still exist? They were registered
there in the census of 1891. I don't know if they worked there or owned
the house? The census form states Richard's profession as 'common bunter'?

Beautiful and wonderful, especially for me. I lived in Stonehouse,
Glos; and my brother lived in King's Stanley, Glos. My greatgrandfather,
John Henry Sheldon, played the organ in the church in Sapperton,
Glos in late 1800s and very early 1900s, in his red leather carpet
slippers.
I know St. Mary's in Painswick, an earlier ancestor of mine,
Mary Poole, was baptized there in 1827. What a memorable trip for

My Mist ancestors lived in Amesbury in the 1600-1800's.
Mary Mist, a sister to my 4X great grandfather married William
Privett of Chilmark in 1721. I enjoyed the lovely photos of
St. Margaret's church. William Privett, the younger, a son of this
William Privett was a sculptor and did work at Stourhead.
Also, I enjoyed the photos of Sutton Benger, and the Green Man!

Having been born in Dursley, my interests are still around my roots.
Your website has brought home to me how much everything is changing
in my beloved home town. I find your pictures and information

My family had the sweet shop 'Cross's' near the Broadwell; and
a Long Street cycle shop, which became a chip shop in later years.
Most of the family were employed at Lister's factory and offices.

Wow, I am very impressed with a quick overview of the site.
I lived near Uley (Elcombe actually) from 1950 to 1970 and went
to the Grammar School in Dursley, '59-65.
Have many fond but fading memories of Dursley and

I so enjoyed the pictures. Our Great-Great Grandparents, the Attwoods came from
Winchcombe and Great Washbourne area and the opportunity to see these areas where they

What a lovely surprise your photographs were when navigating your
website. Have wallpapered one of your snow pictures on the front of
my computer, as it is a hot and sticky day today in Queensland,
Australia. I was looking for Dursley, as my grandmother was buried there
in the 1940's. She went to live with an uncle of mine as the bombing was
