Accreditation - Summary of Process

The following summarises the ODL QC accreditation process.    More detail can be found on the Applications page, or in the Guide to Assessment

1. Registration

Purpose:

Confirm both provider and ODL QC willing to work towards accreditation.    Previously accredited providers do not need to re-register.

Tasks:

Complete & Submit form A1: Registration and appropriate cheque.

Timing:

Any (allow 3 months between registration and target Council Meeting)

Fee:

£100 (UK-based) or £250 (Non-UK-based providers).

2. Application for Assessment

(Can be combined with registration for non-registered providers)

Purpose:

Agree overall parameters and timing of the assessment process.

Tasks:

Complete & Submit form A2: Application Form
Agree overall timetable with ODL QC

Timing:

Any time after registration, but at least 2 months prior to target Council Meeting.

Fee:

A deposit against the full assessment fee may be charged at this stage

3. Working towards assessment

Purpose:

Preparation for assessment.

Tasks:

Discussion of completed form A2 (by email or telephone).
Collation of Course Assessment Packs (as soon as courses agreed).
Circulation of questionnaires to learners.
Circulation of questionnaires to tutors.
Submission of Course Assessment Packs to assessor(s) & ODL QC.
Fix date for assessment visit (if required by ODL QC).

Timing:

As soon as possible after application details agreed.

4. Full Submission & Assessment

Tasks:

Full submission to ODL QC.   (Blank forms are available here.)
Visit from assessor.
Agree quote and circulation of Press release (if application succeeds)

Timing:

At least a week before visit and three weeks before target Council.

Fee:

Any oustanding balance on the assessment fee agreed with ODL QC.

5. Council Meeting

Purpose:

Formal decision by Council as to whether or not to grant accreditation.

6. Following Accreditation

Timing:

All accredited providers are re-assessed within 3 years of accreditation.

Fee:

Annual Fees are charged to accredited providers; details on request.
