The main soil type is clay with flints over chalk. Chalk is very near the surface on the dry valley sides. The valley bottoms are mixed loam and gravel. The fields have no dominant aspect. The lowest point of the farm is approximately 102 metres above sea level gradually rising westwards to 142 metres.
