Drypoint by Claude Shepperson (b.1867 d.1921)

An illustrator of several London magazines, Shepperson studied etching under Frank Short and later Lee-Hankey from 1906. He produced 29 drypoints sporadically over a 15 year period and 21 Lithographs. He was more at home with lithography, but this small, restrained plate shows him at his whimsical and amusing best. His other drypoints are rather sentimental and have not aged quite so well.
