Leonid Zorin - Contemporary Russian (Moscow)
I have a lot of this artists etchings which fall into two groups - either rather gothic portraits
or fairly realistic (I assume) depictions of everyday life in Russia. The somewhat dilapidated humans and
infrastructure are shown with a degree of wry humour which rather appealed to me. I have photocopies of a lot
of other work that I intended to buy before the 'Moscow Etching Gallery' went 'off-air' and it compares favourably
with other contemporary artists output. If I ever get in contact again I will send him some decent paper -
these are printed on something more akin to the material used for blank postcards!
Old Ladoga is an area outside St Petersburg where many Russian artists go in the summer for inspiration.
