Leonid Zorin - contemporary Russian (Moscow)
A series of portraits of his fellow Russian Printmakers from his 'Graphics of Russia' series.
I acquired a selection of his and other artists work from the now extinct Moscow Etching Gallery that
vanished from the Internet about eighteen months ago. Despite a lot of correspondence I never managed to get
any biographical details. His work is usually imbued with a bit of humour and a lot of social commentary. The
gallery showed little of his portaiture which is in fact much better than his topographical etchings. If anyone knows
of his whereabouts, or that of Kiril Denisin who managed things, please let me know - I would like buy some more!
All are 150x125mm, editions of 20 (in sepia, some more editioned in black), from 1993-1997. The details are my
interpretation of some rather idiosyncratic translations.
