Why you were looking
forward to going to the ground (or not as the case may be):
It was the F.A. Cup, and a local derby game. I had never been to the ground
before, so was looking forward to it.
2. How easy was your journey/finding the ground/car parking?
Very easy. I found some free parking behind a friends hotel not far from the
ground, so that was easy enough. After the game we got away very easily, not
much traffic at all.
3. What you did before the game pub/chippy.... home fans friendly?
I had a full fry up breakfast at the York Hotel as it was a 12:00 KO
4. What you thought on seeing the ground, first impressions of away end then
other sides of the ground?
I thought from a distance it looked quite good. It is painted strongly in
the clubs colours which makes it stand out. However, I was disappointed with
the stadium design when I was inside. All 4 stands are way too far away from
the pitch which ruins the atmosphere and interaction between fans and
players. I also didn’t like the large empty gaps in the corners of the
ground. I think they need to consider filling these gaps in.
5. Comment on the game itself, atmosphere, stewards, pies, toilets etc..
The Home Support was very quiet, but I think this was due to the fact we
were allocated the whole of their ‘Southbank’ stand which is usually their
main singing area.
Wolves also lost this game 3-0 which also doesn’t help for the Home fans in
regards to creating an atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed the game though.
6. Comment on getting away from the ground after the game:
Getting away was easy enough, no trouble whatsoever. There was a lot of
police around which kept any trouble at bay.
7. Summary of overall thoughts of the day out:
It was a brilliant day out, a great way for me to spend my Birthday! I shall
be visiting again when we play them next time.
